Solo Day in LBK
Whether you have a free day during a business trip, a sports tournament or you want to explore West Texas, Lubbock offers plenty of ways to see the city solo. From the best places to grab a bite to must-see spots, here's how to enjoy your day of solitude.
Enjoy Some Quiet Time
A great place to go on your solo day is one of Lubbock's many coffee shops. You can practice a hobby, read a book or just people-watch, all with a delicious drink in hand. Each spot has its own unique vibe and menu, so find your favorite and spend the time however you’d like; it is your day, after all!
Learn Something New
Lubbock is home to quite a few museums where you can learn more about the Hub City’s history at your own pace. From learning about cowboy culture at the National Ranching Heritage Center to discovering how impactful Buddy Holly was on rock ‘n’ roll music at the Buddy Holly Center or exploring artifacts and military gliders from World War II at the Silent Wings Museum, there are a lot of opportunities to delve into your passions or find new ones on a day to yourself.
Shop Till You Drop
Whether you’re looking for a specific piece or just want to browse, sometimes the best way to spend a day on your own is shopping. Lubbock has some amazing local stores all over the city, as well as a few shopping centers. When it comes to the latter, we recommend heading out to the West End, Canyon West, Kingsgate or the South Plains Mall. All of these spots offer a wide range of shops, restaurants and plenty of places to fill your day.
Treat Yourself
The perfect way to treat yourself is with a good meal! Luckily, there are a lot of amazing restaurants to choose from here in Lubbock. If you're flying solo for a nice dinner, here are a few places we’d recommend.

The Funky Door Bistro & Wine Room is a great spot with delicious food and a lively vibe, whether you’re upstairs, at the bar or by the main stage. Another place with great wine, energy, and live music is La Diosa Cellars. Located down in the Depot District, this restaurant has a lot of cozy seating, amazing sangria and unique tapas, so you can try a taste of whateveryou’d like. Staying downtown, Claraboya is another good place to try for a night on your own. The food is phenomenal, and since it’s located in the DoubleTree by Hilton, you may meet other solo travelers.
These are just a few ways you could explore the Hub City on your own time. Of course, if you prefer to stay in when you’re traveling, we understand. Lubbock has some amazing hotels, too!
