Foodie Favorites: The Watering Well Eatery

Sometimes it can be a challenge to eat healthy for lunch during the week, but The Watering Well Eatery makes it easy. Inspired by the food she feeds her family, restaurateur and owner of J’s Creamery (formerly Sheridan’s Frozen Custard), Kandy Fletcher, wanted to bring her nearly two decades of experience to a new restaurant in a new space in southwest Lubbock. After being approached about the available space in their new building, Kandy partnered with Betenbough Homes to create a tranquil, “fine casual” dining experience.

The Watering Well Eatery has a clean and craveable menu that is organically sourced (local when possible), non-GMO, all natural and nutrient packed. Pick from wraps, sandwiches, soups and salads for lunch or dinner with breakfast items available until 11 a.m. and bakery items for purchase throughout the day. There are options for nearly every diet or allergy restriction and lookbooks are available with detailed nutritional information – they want you to know what you’re eating. We stopped in for lunch and here’s a look at some of our favorite picks.

Avocado Kale Salad

The Avocado Kale Salad features a house-made lemon dressing, parmesan cheese, panko, toasted almonds, cranberries and (of course) avocado. We ordered ours with chicken for a little extra protein boost!

Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad

A lunchtime favorite, The Watering Well prepares their chicken salad with celery, toasted almonds, cranberries, apples, grapes and mayo, and serves it up on a flaky croissant.

Hand Pulled BBQ on Jalapeño Cornbread

The Watering Well’s BBQ sandwich is more than just barbecue piled atop your standard issue bun. Their version features pit-cooked pork served on a jalapeno cornbread bun with their signature slaw and a spicy pickle.

House Kombucha and Tea Infusion

On the drink side, they feature a full range of coffee drinks, hot tea by the pot and a house-made kombucha. An assortment of cold-pressed juices, tea/juice blends, and some of the best water you’ll drink in town complement the food menu. The coffee is made with all organic beans and the juices are cold-pressed in-house on a hydraulic press.

Delivery and catering are coming soon. So whether you stop in and grab a bite or take some back to the office, you’re going to have a tasty and filling lunch that you don’t have to feel guilty about. Go check out The Watering Well Eatery and let us know what you think!
