Lubbock’s Furry Friend

Scurrying and burrowing all day long is what makes the Prairie Dog one of the most entertaining of all nature’s wild creatures.

These furry fellas live in Lubbock on a protected property at the popular Mackenzie Park, open for visitors, complete with a pavilion. Come bearing carrots or carrots to share, and you’ll leave having gained a friend…maybe a few dozen.

At the recently renovated Prairie Dog Town attraction, you can watch these comedic creatures play and burrow about in and out of their intricate tunnels and listen to their unique bark all day long. Prairie Dog Town is located within Mackenzie Park and is one of the top five most visited attractions in Lubbock, highly recommended for the family.

We arrived in Lubbock this past Thursday and left Saturday. Everyone in Lubbock was so kind and welcoming. Hopefully our family will be moving there this summer.
