New in Lubbock – March
Can anyone else believe it’s already March? It seems like just a few short days ago we were working on our February round-up, and now we are 100-ish days away from summer, and we have a whole new crop of businesses opening up just in time for warmer weather! This month, whether you’re sweating it out at a kickboxing class, lounging on a patio or sampling Thai food, be sure to get out and experience Lubbock’s latest additions!
Cocina de La Sirena
We shed more than a few tears over Manna Bread & Wine’s departure from Cactus Alley, but as sad as we were to see them go, we are that much more excited to experience all that the newest inhabitant, Cocina de La Sirena, has to offer. Their menu boasts everything from a red chile strip steak served with chimichurri, scalloped potatoes and asparagus to poblano “fries” and a varied wine list. One thing I will be sure not to miss? The to-die-for craft cocktails and the dessert. Apple-cinnamon empanada, anyone?
Location: 2610 Salem Ave. (Now open for dinner only!)
I Love Kickboxing
If you’ve ever wanted to train like a boxer without the pressure of competing in a ring, I Love Kickboxing might just be your new favorite workout. Each class consists of a warm up, bag work (no air punching here), partner drills, conditioning and a cool down – 60 minutes worth of calorie-torching cardio and resistance. Be sure to stop by and sweat – I mean – check it out!
Location: 9810 Slide Road, Ste B
Albarran’s Mexican Bar & Grill
If you’ve driven up and down Milwaukee Avenue lately, you’ve seen the host of construction happening, and one of the most recent establishments to officially open their doors is Albarran’s Mexican Bar & Grill. Here you’ll find all your Tex-Mex favorites, frosty margs and one of Lubbock’s coolest patios open just in time for prime patio season. They’re now open seven days a week, and that’s worth toasting with a Spicy Watermelon Margarita Martini.
Location: 7722 Milwaukee Ave.
Thai food lovers rejoice! There’s another restaurant to add to the takeout rotation. Already, Yelp users are praising it for the great service, affordable prices and quality food. One user admitted she was hesitant to post a glowing review because it “felt like their own personal Thai place.” Maybe it’s time you make it yours as well.
Location: 2302 Texas Ave.
