Antiquing in the “Hub City!”
“They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.” I couldn’t accurately tell you when or where this popular phrase originated, but I’d be willing to bet they were talking about furniture. I’m all for the convenience that big box furniture retailers provide, but there’s something so special about wandering your way through an antique store in search of vintage home décor that’s perfectly unique for your space, no assembly required. Should you be on the hunt here in Lubbock, these are just a few of the places you won’t want to miss.
Grand Central Station Antiques
When I started my own antiques search, inevitably the first place that people recommended was Grand Central Station Antiques. Known locally as “the place with the giant bowling pin on the outside,” this shop boasts 24,000 square feet of eclectic pieces and vintage finds. And with more than 40 vendors consistently stocking the shop, you’ll likely never see the same things twice.
Location: 4020 Ave. Q
Hours: Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Antique Mall of Lubbock
Nestled on 19th Street, this local antique mall is a treasure itself. Here you’ll find a variety of items to put the finishing touches on any room, including collectibles, Buddy Holly memorabilia and unique furniture pieces.
Location: 7907 W. 19th St.
Hours: Open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Chaparral Antique Mall
Chaparral Antique Mall is just a short drive from the Texas Tech campus and offers just as many opportunities to explore as it does to shop. Don’t forget to add it to your list while you’re here!
Location: 2202 Ave. Q
Wherever you find your coveted vintage piece or antique, we hope you share it with us using #LiveLoveLubbock! Happy hunting!
