6 Reasons to Host Your Next Event at Buffalo Springs Lake
With summer right around the corner, we’re always looking for any excuse to spend more time outside. What better place than Lubbock’s own Buffalo Springs Lake? The lake is the place to cool off here in the “Hub City,” offering swimming beaches and great fishing, hiking, camping, dining and live music. Not only that, it’s a fantastic venue for special events large and small. If you’re looking to add a bit of the outdoors to your next event, here are six reasons you should consider Buffalo Springs Lake.
1. There are numerous venues to rent at Buffalo Springs Lake.
No matter the size of your event, there’s a venue that will meet your needs. For example, the Party House is a popular spot for company parties, retreats, luncheons, weddings and reunions. You can comfortably accommodate up to 100 people with additional space outside that includes a gazebo and grill. Plus, the Party House comes with free Wi-Fi, a full kitchen and private restrooms, and it has an open-catering policy.
Meanwhile, the Amphitheater and Buffalo Barn, which holds up to 5,000 people outside and 100 inside, is ideal for large concerts, presentations, trade shows and weddings. Also, there are several outdoor pavilions of various sizes you can reserve, all of which are equipped with electrical hookups and provide spectacular views.
2. There are plenty of places for your attendees to stay.
When you host an event at Buffalo Springs Lake, your attendees have many options of places to rest their head. Of course, there are numerous hotels in Lubbock with all the amenities you need. If your guests want to be in tune with nature, they can camp in tents or RVs. There is something special about waking up to a West Texas sunrise. By the end of this year, groups will be able to reserve multiple spots in advance if you are traveling with family and friends.
3. You can enjoy water-based team building.
Looking to bond over a canoe race instead of in a board room? No problem! Lakeside Rentals at Buffalo Springs Lake offers a wide range of rental options to make sure your group has a great time. Their inventory includes paddle boards, canoes, golf carts, personal watercrafts, paddle boats, water trikes and kayaks. If you’re trying to plan an outing for your group, you can rent multiple items for a discounted package price. They’re open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and by appointment (806.407.2628) Monday through Friday.
4. You won’t have to go far for food and entertainment.
At Buffalo Bay Marina, you’ll find tasty food and live music. They serve lakeside favorites like burgers, tacos and catfish, as well as breakfast plates like huevos rancheros. The restaurant is open for dinner on Thursday, lunch and dinner on Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. From the end of May through the end of August, your group can sit on the marina’s patio and enjoy beer or wine and live music on Friday and Saturday (and occasional Thursdays).
When Buffalo Bay Marina is closed, you can hire the restaurant’s team to cater a meal for your group. The restaurant itself is available for rent in the “off season” (Labor Day through Easter).
5. You get access to two beaches in Lubbock.
Who said there are no beaches in West Texas?! There are two sand beaches at Buffalo Springs Lake—the perfect spots for your attendees to kick off their shoes and get their feet wet. These beaches are popular gathering spots in Lubbock.
6. There’s no shortage of outdoor adventure.
Buffalo Springs is the ideal spot to host an unforgettable outdoor excursion for your attendees. This is a prime place for fishing in Lubbock, with an abundance of bass, catfish, carp, crappie and striper to hook. The ATV course meanders past sand dunes and through greenery, while the nature trails are set within 55 acres of majestic natural beauty.
