With plenty of sunshine and an ample amount of things to do outdoors, summer is a fantastic time to visit Lubbock. This is especially true if you’re traveling to the “Hub City” with a group for a tournament or event, as there are an endless number of ways to enjoy the season together. To help you plan your time here, we’ve listed five of our favorite group-friendly things to do in the summer.

  • Take a Swing at 4ORE! Golf

Tee off from a climate-controlled box at 4ORE! Golf with a wide variety of games such as pinball, seven international courses and knock-out.  Each tee box accommodates up to six people and is rented by the hour. Don’t have your clubs? No problem! You’ll find men’s and women’s clubs at each tee box. Hungry? Savor delicious dishes like burgers, pizzas and Texas-inspired sushi rolls along with a variety of beers, wine and cocktails.

If you have a group larger than six people, consider booking the starter package for special events that includes two tee boxes and two hours of play, as well as pizza and drinks.

  • Stand-up Paddleboarding with SUPLBK

Cool off on the calm waters of Dunbar Historic Lake with a relaxing day of stand-up paddleboarding with SUPLBK. Paddleboards are rented by the hour and each rental comes with a short tutorial for first-timers. SUPLBK can accommodate up to 20 paddlers on the water at a time, while private lessons are available for smaller groups. After that workout, enjoy a group picnic and flying disc on the shore.

  • Reach New Heights at Altitude Trampoline Park

Defy gravity at Altitude Trampoline Park, home to thousands of square feet of wall-to-wall trampolines and other attractions. Jump to your heart’s content or get competitive on the extreme dodgeball. As the largest trampoline park in Texas, Altitude can accommodate groups of up to 400 people. Along with the trampolines, Altitude has a massive foam pit you can jump into and a ninja obstacle course featuring a three-level warped wall. A one-stop shop of bouncy fun, Altitude has a little something to offer everyone.

  • Float Along Texas Tech’s Lazy River

Splash around in Texas Tech University’s Leisure Pool, a popular spot to hang out during summer months here in the “Hub City.” Float the 645-foot-long lazy river, start up a water volleyball game, play on the slide and diving board or race in the eight-lane lap pool. Rent The Cove (up to 25 people), The Stage (up to 50 people) or the entire Leisure Pool (up to 100 people, after public hours). Sam’s Poolside Cafe has plenty of ice cream and fountain drinks for your group to chill out, as well.

  • Enjoy Group Sundaes at Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe

Step back into the ’50s at Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe with its checkerboard floors, jukebox and vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia. Scooping numerous ice cream flavors as well as whipping up creations like hot fudge sundaes, root beer floats and malt shakes, this local ice cream shop will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.
