4 Ways to Support Local Musicians
While music festivals and nightly live shows are postponed for the time being, that doesn't mean we can’t enjoy music from local, talented musicians. Lubbock artists have headed to social media to continue to virtually perform for music fans. Whether it’s a show from their living room or a performance in the parking lot of a temporary, make-shift drive-thru, music fans won’t get FOMO (fear of missing out) while social distancing. Check out our ever-growing list of nightly talent along with ways to support community artists online.
As you tune into online performances, scan the social post or email that links to the streaming video to check if the musician provided a username to their Venmo, Paypal or other resources for tipping.
Since we may be hanging out at home for a while, it’s time to put a soundtrack to our times indoors. Make your way to the artist’s social media or website to purchase a CD. If CDs aren’t your thing, make sure to stream their music on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you listen and share your favorite song on social media.
While online, take a look at the merch. Whether you prefer apparel, stickers or anything in between, each item you collect is a great way to support during these weird times. I don’t know about you, but there is nothing better than an oversized t-shirt of your favorite band!
Follow on Social Media
For a continuous resource of live-streamed shows from “Hub City” artists, join the I Love Lubbock Music! Facebook group. There you will also find additional information for upcoming performances as well as different ways to support. Following the individual’s page and account on social media is a great way to keep up with live shows as well.
Visit Lubbock will also be sharing the details as new performances are announced. Make sure to follow @visitlubbock on Instagram and @visit_lubbock on Twitter. Like us on Facebook to make sure you never miss a show!
