Perfect Pairings

Maybe it’s their award-winning wines or possibly the eye-catching art that adorns the open air space. One thing is for sure, the Llano Estacado Wine & Clay Festival has created the perfect pairing.

Beginning on Saturday, June 8, visitors from all over the region are invited to come together to celebrate the bold tastes of the South Plains, while shopping for one-of-a-kind art pieces. Admission to the event is free and includes wine tastings, live music and the chance to “ooooh” and “ahhh” at the artwork that will be on display. With so much to sample, the event will run through the weekend starting on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 9, from noon to 5 p.m.

If you’re a wino, this is where it gets tasty. Six of Llano’s award-winning wines will be served at $3 a glass, including two handpicked wines that are only available to wine club members. Not in the club? This is your chance to be one of the cool kids and sample the most exclusive flavors. Just act like you’ve tried them before, your secret is safe with us.

And if music and food is what you crave, you won’t be disappointed. Two local bands will keep the rhythm going all weekend long and vendors will sell you treats to go with your wine.

Now in its 16th year, Janice Hubble, president of the Llano Estacado Clay Guild, says her favorite part is introducing people to a strong art community that live and work in the “Hub City”. This year visitors will be able to connect directly with more than 20 artists from Lubbock and the surrounding region. The art will include functional pottery, sculptures, ceramic art, jewelry, photography, as well as on-site clay making demos.

Now that summer is in full swing, the Llano Estacado Wine & Clay Festival is one of many events this year you don’t want to miss. Cheers!
