New in Lubbock – January 2016
It’s been two weeks since our champagne toasts welcomed 2016, and we’re right in the middle of one of my favorite months of the year. The strike of midnight on January 1 marks a positive change in the air. Gym parking lots are full, grocery baskets are filled with greens and good intentions, and we set out to fill the next 365 days with new experiences. In addition to rounding up 10 can’t-miss experiences on our 2016 “Lubb-ucket” list, we’ve also gathered a few new retail shops and restaurants that you’ll want to check out this month.
Moe’s Southwest Grill
We never met a burrito we didn’t like, and Moe’s is no exception. Moe’s Southwest Grill boasts a fast-casual environment and a host of grass-fed, organic and all-natural ingredients. One more reason they “rock as hard as they roll?” Their menu items feature kitschy pop-culture inspired names such as Wrong Doug, Close Talker and Band Camp (bonus points if you can place each reference).
Location: 4601 S. Loop 289
Timeless Cafe & Cocktails
If you’re looking for a varied menu that sports everything from mediterranean quesadillas to bourbon meatballs to shrimp tacos and salmon burgers, be sure to check out Timeless Cafe & Cocktails. Located in the River Crossing Shopping Center, this local restaurant serves up an eclectic mix of everyone’s favorite flavors. Don’t miss their signature Iceball Cocktails!
Location: 6015 82nd St. (River Crossing Shopping Center)
Sterling’s High Fashion
This New Mexico-based fashion boutique has opened another location here in Lubbock! Check them out for everything from graphic tees to accessories and ankle boots.
Location: 6616 Milwaukee Ave.
Toni & Guy Hair Salon
While we’re all busy making positive new-year, new-me changes every January like eating our greens and finally getting our money’s worth out of our gym memberships, I find my self wanting a new ‘do. (Anyone else?) This January, there’s a new place in town to help you rock a new color or cut –Toni & Guy. Stop by for a hair revamp and conquer the rest of your resolutions looking fabulous. (Scheduled to open January 2016)
Location: 2910 W. Loop 289, Suite 610 (West End Shopping Center)
West Crust Pizza
In case you were not-so-patiently waiting for this local favorite to open it’s second location, you can now stop by and order your favorite artisan pie. We recommend the Veggiepotomus.
Location: 116 W. Loop 289 (Or as I remember it–next door to Alamo Drafthouse and Twisted Root Burger Co.)
Potbelly Sandwich Shop
With the opening of Potbelly on Milwaukee Avenue, Southwest Lubbock can have their made-to-order sandwiches and eat them, too. This Potbelly location is open seven days a week, serves breakfast Monday-Friday and has a drive-thru.
Location: 6616 Milwaukee Ave, Suite 900
