Meet the Visit Lubbock Sales Team

Hospitality is what West Texas is known for, and it’s what the Visit Lubbock Team echos in their work each and every day to help meeting planners have a smooth and successful event in Lubbock. With such rock stars on the Visit Lubbock Sales Team, we wanted to get to know them better and learn what makes them excited about bringing events and meetings to Lubbock.

Amy Zientek, Director of Sales

Amy Zientek

Describe your role at Visit Lubbock:
As the Director of Sales I oversee the sales and servicing departments. I report to the board on our activities and track progress toward our goals.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for meetings and conventions?
Lubbock has the nicest people you will find anywhere!  Customer service is alive and well in Lubbock, and that helps make any event run smoothly.

What do you love about Lubbock?
Lubbock has the small town feel with the big city amenities.

What’s one thing a visitor must see or do before they leave?
Lubbock has so many wonderful, unique museums that showcase our agriculture history. Visitors should definitely see the American Wind Power Center, Bayer Museum of Agriculture and National Ranching Heritage Center. These three museums show visitors the story of the people who tamed the plains.

Lisa Grinstead, Sales Manager

Lisa - Collaborate 2015Describe your role at Visit Lubbock:
At Visit Lubbock I get to assist Association, Corporate and Government planners with finding hotel rooms, meeting space and off-site venues for their conventions, workshops/seminars, etc. In addition, I get to work with our local festivals to find hotel rooms for their out-of-town exhibitors and attendees.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for meetings and conventions?
Affordability, ease of access, variety of venues and attractions, great regional location and the fact that the Visit Lubbock Team is here to assist and support groups during the planning stages as well as on-site during their meeting.

What do you love about Lubbock?
The friendliness of our people, the local history and the variety of venues that preserve and display these stories for residents and visitors, and the climate (really!). In addition, I love the energy that is bringing positive growth to the city, the culture and opportunities that cause local college graduates to choose to stay in Lubbock to begin their careers, and the fact that I get to share all of this with organizations from other cities and states in my role at Visit Lubbock.

What’s the one thing a visitor must see or do before they leave?
Just one? (Reminds me of that potato chip commercial from years ago.) From our many one-of-a-kind attractions to our fabulous local restaurants and award winning wineries, I can only suggest to visitors that you pick what it is that interests you most to start, whether that is history, art, music, food, etc. You will leave wanting to return and visit all of those places you have not yet experienced. I encourage visitors to check out www.visitlubbock.org to learn about our attractions, view the calendar of events and utilize the Interactive Trip Planner feature on the home page for that return trip!

Taryn Hruzek, Sales Manager

Taryn croppedDescribe your role at Visit Lubbock:
My role as a sales manager is to sell Lubbock as a destination for future conferences and events, and my primary markets are religious, military and group tours.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for meetings and conventions?
Lubbock is a great destination because it has something for everyone! We’ve got everything from Lubbock’s Moonlight Musicals, First Friday Art Trail and local award-winning wineries to the Buddy Holly Center, Silent Wings Museum and several agricultural attractions. Lubbock has the perfect mixture of history, heritage and culture, which makes us unique! Then, of course you have the wonderful staff at Visit Lubbock to help you with booking hotels, creating tour itineraries and servicing needs.

What do you love about Lubbock?
I love the people and the West Texas hospitality!

What’s the one thing a visitor must see or do before they leave?
There are so many great attractions that it’s really difficult to choose just one, but one that I find really unique is the American Wind Power Center. It is the largest collection of fully restored windmills in the world! With renewable energy being a huge topic for West Texas, that’s an attraction that I find really interesting.

Katherine McBee, Sales Manager

Katherine cropped2Describe your role at Visit Lubbock:
My role here at Visit Lubbock is to bring more people to West Texas by recruiting event planners to host meetings here in Lubbock. I focus on a variety of markets from educational to fraternal and social to weddings and reunions.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for meetings and conventions?
Lubbock is a phenomenal destination for meetings and conventions first and foremost because of the hospitality. The people of West Texas are some of the kindest, hardworking people the planner will ever meet. It is through great hospitality, competitive hotel rates, an array of high quality restaurants and shopping that the planner will have the tools to execute an outstanding conference.

What do you love about Lubbock?
I love the personality of Lubbock. It has such a rich history of agriculture along with an incredible art scene and world class wine indulgences. The city has everything you could want all within this warm, friendly community.

What’s one thing a visitor must see or do before they leave?
Before their trip is over, visitors must see the American Wind Power Center. Boasting the largest collections of windmills in the world, this museum educates guests on the role windmills play from old-fashioned Dutch windmills to modern wind turbines. You will come to understand the importance of windmills and the role this industry plays in clean energy production right here in West Texas.

Amber Pennington, Services Manager

I think Lubbock always exceeds expectations for those who visit here. There really is a lot to see, whether it’s visiting one of the wineries, any of our great museums or taking in the local music scene. There really is something for everyone here!

What do you love about Lubbock?
I love the people. Lubbock is truly one of the friendliest cities around!

What’s one thing a visitor must see or do before they leave?
It is honestly hard for me to pick just one thing… but I would say enjoying some of the tapas & local wine at La Diosa Cellars, then catching some great live music in the Depot Entertainment District would certainly top my list.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for meetings and conventions?
Lubbock is an amazing destination for meetings and conventions because even though it is a large city, any place in town is accessible within 10-15 minutes. Not only is every destination easily accessible, but anywhere you go you are greeted with a smile and friendly hospitality.

What do you love about Lubbock?
As I  mentioned before, Lubbock is a larger city, but it has that small town feel. People are friendly and helpful anywhere you go. Lubbockites love visitors and welcome them with open arms.

What is the one thing a visitor must see or do while they are in town?
The one thing I suggest for a visitor to do while they are in Lubbock is to visit our Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theatre! Our drive-in is a great place for people of all ages to enjoy.
