Meet the Lubbock Sports Team

Hospitality is what West Texas is known for, and it’s what the Lubbock Sports Team echos in their work each and every day to help sports planners have a successful event in Lubbock. Get to know the team and learn what makes them excited about bringing events and tournaments to Lubbock.

Describe your role at Lubbock Sports.
As the Director of Sports, I oversee sporting events, act as the welcoming committee for those involved in the events and provide hospitality for each group. With Lubbock being a top destination for sporting events, it is important for everything to run smoothly and make our visitors feel at home in this great city.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for sporting events?
Lubbock is known to have some of the nicest people around. When visitors come here from near or far, Lubbock residents are always hospitable and accommodating.  It also doesn’t hurt that it takes only 15 minutes at the most to get to each side of the city. With the multitude of venues and ease of access, Lubbock is a premier destination for sporting events.

What do you love about Lubbock?
The people of Lubbock are unlike anywhere else. Everyone is always so friendly, welcoming and supportive of local events. Lubbock is a pretty big city, but with a small town atmosphere. It is the perfect place to live because it has all the restaurants and shopping you need minus the big-city traffic. Lubbock continues to grow and has more options that ever before for sports planners.

What should visitors see or do before they leave?
Lubbock has numerous wineries, but one of my favorites is Llano Estacado Winery. You can tour the beautiful vineyard, enjoy wine tastings and catch some live music at one of their events. The National Ranching and Heritage Center is also a wonderful attraction that is unique to Lubbock. Visitors are able to check out their 48 authentic ranching structures dating back to the 1700s and really get a feel for the Old West.

Describe your role at Lubbock Sports.
As the Sports Sales Manager, I sell the numerous venues Lubbock offers that cater to almost every sport, how great the city is and the attractions that we feature for those traveling to West Texas.  I love this city, so when it comes to getting more people to come out and experience what all of the residents care about so much, it is very rewarding.

What makes Lubbock a great destination for sporting events?
Lubbock is the most hospitable town I have ever been in. Even after traveling to numerous places, Lubbock still stands out as one of the friendliest cities. Lubbock residents love sports, and any opportunity to watch a tournament or game is something that they look forward to. We also have perfect weather for outdoor events, as there are an average of 263 days of sunshine per year!

What do you love about Lubbock?
I love the size of the city, the ease of getting around and the people that live here. Sports planners constantly tell me how amazing the city is at accommodating people from out of town and how the community makes them feel like they are at home. Lubbock is unique and has so much to offer people of all ages. I could not imagine myself anywhere else.

What should visitors see or do before they leave?
Visitors have to check out the Buddy Holly Center. Lubbock’s rich history in music is one of the greatest things to experience while you are in town. Even if you are not a student at Texas Tech University or plan to be, you need to tour the campus. The amazing architecture and beautiful landscape is unlike any other campus and definitely something that visitors need to see.
