Lubbock Shopping Spotlight: Mountain Hideaway
When the air gets crisp in the fall, I start to crave a little outdoor adventure. From camping at Lake Alan Henry or hiking at Buffalo Springs Lake to navigating the walking trail at Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark, Lubbock’s fall weather is perfect for those outdoor experiences. But before you head out, it’s important to make sure you have all the necessities to make sure your experience is stellar. Luckily, Lubbock has the perfect store to outfit all your outdoor escapades.
Mountain Hideaway has been equipping the High Plains’ most adventurous since 1992, and specializes in backpacking, hiking, fly fishing, climbing and camping gear. This month, we popped by for a look at what they’re stocking this season, and to make a few additions to the outdoor wish list. Here are a few of my favorites!
A vacuum-sealed travel press mug
I love my morning coffee, and there is something extra special about having a cup or two in the great outdoors. But if you’re a coffee lover and have been camping, you know the two worst words to hear around the breakfast campfire are “instant coffee.” Before my next excursion, I’ll be stopping by Mountain Hideaway to pick up this vacuum-sealed travel press. Not only can you use it as a French Press, but you can also use it as a thermos to keep your coffee piping hot. Just consider it the Swiss Army knife for the caffeinated.
A Patagonia pullover (or two)
Mountain Hideaway is home to the outdoor and adventure brands we all know and love: North Face, Marmot and Patagonia to name a few. And you can pick up a jacket to help you weather anything from snow to rain. I have my eye on a Patagonia pullover–perfect for a chilly fall day or night.
A good sleeping bag
Never underestimate the importance of a really good sleeping bag. Here you’ll find a wide range of sleeping bags to suit everything from camping trips to extreme temperatures.
A Yeti cooler
If you haven’t already heard, Yeti is the Ferrari of coolers, and Mountain Hideaway has one of every kind from the soft cooler to the tumblers to something you can pack a weekend’s worth of food in to numerous accessories. I’ll take one of each please!
If you’re a camping novice, or simply looking to upgrade your gear, Mountain Hideaway staffs employees who are not only knowledgeable, but use the equipment they sell. So don’t hesitate to ask any questions or to stop by and start building a wish list of your own. Happy adventuring!
