Foodie Favorites: Brunch at Stonegate

I firmly believe there is no wrong time of day for breakfast, which is why I jumped at the chance to try out Brunch at Stonegate. There’s been a lot of buzz about the chef and the food, so I was eager to try it out myself.

Teeing Off

My group started with a round of drinks and appetizers; a Big Ass Bloody Mary, assorted handmade pigs in a blanket and the giant bacon pecan cinnamon roll. Three words: Oh. My. Goodness. The bloody mary lives up to its name and was just the right amount of spicy. The handmade pigs in a blanket came with maple syrup and vinaigrette dressing which complemented the jalapeno cheddar, classic, and kabob varieties perfectly. The real star was the homemade heavyweight and heaven on a plate, giant bacon pecan cinnamon roll. Believe me when I say, you have to get the cinnamon roll.

The Back Nine

We started to fill up after the appetizers, but pushed on to the main event – the Sunrise Relleno and the Hangover Toaster Tower. The portion sizes were massive, and each bite was more delicious than the one before. The Sunrise Relleno is a combination of papas, bacon, tender pulled pork and cheddar cheese stuffed into a poblano pepper, deep-fried, and then topped with a fried egg and cilantro cream sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The toaster tower includes the trifecta of breakfast meats (ham, spicy sausage and bacon), cheddar cheese, hash browns, a fried egg and hollandaise sauce on thick, homemade bread. It’s a meal that could make Ron Swanson smile.
