Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer with Christian Conrad
This lecture will focus on two contemporary German artists who push the limits of what a painting can be. Richter’s paintings range in practice from pure abstraction to photorealism, with his work often considered controversial due to his nontraditional methods. Kiefer creates massive paintings and sculptures that incorporate materials such as broken glass, straw, and other found items. Both artists have been widely recognized for their art, and their work is held in the majority of contemporary museums worldwide.

Saturday Lectures at LHUCA is an informal conversation over the life and work of contemporary artists. It’s a stress-free opportunity to examine the art and ideas that underlie much of the modern art world. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join the conversation.

This event is free to the public.
