An Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman, is one of a series of long distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The “70.3” refers to the total distance in miles covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run. There’s no tougher test than The Buffalo Springs Lake Ironman 70.3. Folks travel to Lubbock from all over the world to try out this course.
You can view the race from any part of the course, but the largest crowds gather around the lake, particularly near the start/finish line on Apache Road.
