Day 5’s “Hub City Trivia” Answer is…

Happy National Travel & Tourism Week! Here in Lubbock, we’re celebrating in many ways (see, and one of them is through our “Hub City Trivia” Game. Read on to find out the answer to today’s trivia question, as well as discover if you are the winner of the Lubbock Prize Pack!

Today’s “Hub City Trivia” question was: Buddy Holly opened for which famous singer in 1955?

Answer: Elvis Presley

In 1955, Lubbock native Buddy Holly opened for Elvis a total of three times! During the first show, Elvis kindly lent Buddy his Martin guitar. Later shows included a very young Johnny Cash. The earliest known footage of Elvis comes from these nights. You can explore more about these performances and other stories at the Buddy Holly Center located in the historic Depot Entertainment District. The center houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and music of Buddy Holly and showcases unique memorabilia donated by the family, friends and fans of Lubbock’s favorite son.
