The American Presidency in Photographs Presented at The Museum of Texas Tech Univeristy
Feb 17 - Apr 14 2013

The Museum of Texas Tech University is pleased to announce the traveling exhibition, The American President: Photographs from the Archives of the Associated Press, scheduled to open February 17th, 2013, and run through April 14, in Galleries 2 and 5 of the Museum, located at 4th Street and Indiana Ave, where parking and admission is free.

"Through their lenses, succeeding generations of AP ’photodogs’ have captured both the ecstasy and agony of the American Presidency, and contributed in important ways to the historical record of each administration," writes former President George H.W. Bush in the exhibition’s introduction.

For the journalists of the world’s oldest and largest news agency, the mandate of covering the White House remains the same as it was in Lincoln’s day: be accurate, be fair, and be fast. For photographers, who can never catch up to a missed opportunity, it means always keeping your eye on the president.

The American President: Photographs from the Archives of The Associated Press traveling exhibition is organized by Smith Kramer Traveling Exhibition Services, Kansas City, MO, and locally funded by the Helen Jones Foundation, Inc.
